OB/GYN Surgery

This well-seasoned  team will be returning to perform a myriad of OB/GYN surgeries. Each  day, the team will work at the hospital in the operating theater  performing surgeries on pre-screened patients.  Five days of surgery and  Sundays are at leisure to explore the island.

We are also looking for people who would like to be involved in our continuing reconstruction project at the hospital. You’ll be working with two fabulous, fun contractors who will make the week rewarding and fun!!

Positions for the surgical team have already been filled.

The hospital is a fully functioning, electrified (daylight hours  only) 30 bed inpatient hospital with two resident physicians who live on  site.  There are childrens, mens, womens and obstetrics wards on site  with resident nurses. A very nice operating theater is on site together  with a labor and delivery room.    There is also a pharmacist who often  has a full stock of medications.

Accommodations will be at AROHA RESORT www.arohataveuni.com .  Aroha is a small, family-owned venue with a pool, on the water and close to the hospital.

$3350.00 USD per person.  Includes:

• round trip economy class air from Los Angeles to Taveuni Island, Fiji, inclusive of all taxes and surcharges
• domestic land transfers to/from Taveuni Airport, Hospital
• all applicable temporary medical and dental licenses
• 7 nights accommodation at Aroha Resort
• 7 days of B,L and D, exclusive of beverages

Not Included:  diving, snorkeling and excursions on your day off.

Initial, non-refundable payment of $1800.00 is due by November 1,  2020. Final payment of $1550.00 is due by February 1, 2021. Trip cancellation information is available for  purchase on the airline application form which will be sent once you are  placed on your volunteer week.

Taveuni Island is part of the Northern Lau group and offers many  stellar activities to fill your leisure allocation.  There is great  diving and snorkeling, hiking on the Lavena Coastal trail and trekking  up to the Bouma Waterfalls.  The island is known as “The Garden Island”  and sports a rural population of 12,000 Fijians.  Indo-Fijians,  part-europeans, chinese and indigenous Fijians all peacefully co-exist  in this verdant, rural paradise.
