TEMPORARY MEDICAL LICENSE

Instructions for filing for a temporary Fiji Medical License:

1. Go to www.fijimds.com for the Fiji Medical and Dental Secretariat website.

2. On page one click open Forms & Fees at the top of the page.

3. Click on Temporary Registration on the drop-down list.

4. Choose First visit, Temporary Medical Registration or the Renewal Temporary Medical of Dental Registration to download and fill out the proper form.


On the Fiji MDS registration Form:

Part 2. List current license(s) you hold in the US.

Part 3. List the dates of your team visit to Fiji. Reason for visit: To provide volunteer medical, surgical, etc.  services to the people of (Taveuni Island or the Yasawa Islands)  with the Loloma Foundation.

Part 10. Indemnification provided through Loloma Foundation.

The other sections are fairly straightforward.


When filled out e-mail that form to admin@fijimds.com , registrar@fijimds.com and lhendricks@lolomafoundation.org. (Mail to above addressees only!)


With regard to the instructions at the top of the Temporary Registration page:

The F$100 registration fee is included in the Loloma Trip fees. We will send a lump sum payment to  Fiji MDS for all the medical and dental licences obtained.

Scanned and e-mailed copies of the certificates required have been sufficient in the past rather than also sending certified copies.


The Ministry of Health, will give Loloma Foundation a formal letter of invitation  for the Taveuni visitors. We will provide that for all the licensee applicants for Taveuni.

Navutu Stars and the Village Chief of Yaqeta Island will provide a letter of invitation to Loloma Foundation in lieu of a Ministry letter.

Letter of Good Standing.

The Medical Council now requires a letter of good standing from the Medical Board of the state where you reside rather than a from the Department Chair or other source as before.

A License Verification may be obtained by contacting the Board. Please note the process takes approximately 2 – 3 weeks to complete. To request a License Verification the following must be provided:

      1. Written communication requesting the Medical Board of California produce a license verification letter(s);

      2. Contact information (phone number, email address) of the physician/individual requesting the license verification letter(s);

      3. Complete name and California license number of each physician for whom the license verification letter is being requested;

      4. Complete name and address where each letter will be sent via U.S. Mail. You can have the letter sent to your home or hospital address.

      5. A check made out to the Medical Board of California for each license verification letter requested at the rate of $10.00 per license verification letter. Currently, no credit card payments are accepted for this service.

Veridoc noted on the website will not send a certificate to Fiji.
